During 2017, I spent a lot of time trying to find ways to live a healthier lifestyle. While doing some googling for different fitness boot camps, I stumbled across the Tennessee Fitness Spa, and boy am I glad I did. It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.
I stayed at the Tennessee Fitness Spa for one week in the beginning of August and absolutely loved my stay. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and seem to genuinely care about their guests and helping them achieve their goals.
There is a shuttle that picks up guests from the Nashville airport and takes them to the spa. It’s probably about an hour and a half away from the airport, so this was a very convenient service.
As soon as I arrived at the spa, I was able to do a complete “in body assessment.” This was so neat because I was able to see in detail what my body was composed of. Water weight, fat, lean muscle mass, etc. I went to a class later in the week which not only explained what my numbers mean, but how I could make changes to improve.
The majority of the guests are a bit older, but all very nice and easy to get along with. I was 29 at the time and was able to get in a great workout every day and I met a lot of wonderful people.
All of the classes can be adapted to any fitness level and the instructors are good about letting you know about the modification options.
The food here is very good, especially considering it is all healthy and not jam packed with salt and sugar. There is a fruit bar available during breakfast and a salad bar during lunch and dinner. I never felt hungry during my stay, even with all of the exercise I was doing. There is a fridge in the dining hall that has healthy snacks should you get hungry at any point.
There is absolutely no pressure whatsoever to take any of the classes during your stay. Everyone visits the spa for a different reason, and that is respected by all. So if you want to just get away from it all for a week or longer, you can do that here very easily.
If you are the type of person who needs to be “plugged in” to phone or internet, you may have a bit of trouble. The cell service is a bit spotty. I have AT&T and was able to get one to two bars in my room and a couple of other random spots throughout the property, but that was it. WIFI is included and available but again, not always entirely reliable since you are out in a remote location.
My stay at the TFS was a great experience. I had high hopes before going and I must say that my expectations were either met or exceeded. The week flew by and I felt better than I had in a very long time.
The rooms and grounds here are incredibly clean. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in my room. While it is a bit more of a rustic setting here, the room was VERY clean. Cleaner than many hotels I have stayed at. I was very happy about this and had some amazing nights of sleep while staying here.
At the end of my stay, I was able to take another in body assessment. After working my tail off and eating clean all week, I was SO happy to see that although I only lost one pound of weight overall, I had lost six pounds of fat and gained five of muscle. Amazing what a week of hard work and determination can do!!
I would recommend the TFS to anyone who is looking to take a break from their daily stresses and unplug and detox mentally and physically. It is in a beautiful location, the people are great, the food will leave you feeling satisfied and healthy. It was exactly what I needed and I will be going back again in 2018.
